I'm a painter and knitter, and would love to see what other people are doing when they aren't studying or taking care of real life stuff.

Here is a watercolor I call Sleeping Giants, from the Vicksburg Battle Park, MS.

And this one is my current work in progress.  It's colored pencil and is my dad's dog for his Christmas present.

Let's see what you do!

Wow... those are both terrific; not sure which one I like better, but you have got it goin' on, in both types of media. =) Your dad will be over the moon with that portrait of his pup; the textures and depth of color are amazing.

Thanks Linda and Pam for the kind words.  I usually use a combination of watercolor, india ink and colored pencil, but I'm moving more and more to pure CP.  It's relatively inexpensive, very portable, and I don't have to keep fishing cats out of the rinse water.  I don't know what it is about pigment flavored water that they love so much, but I have visions of waking up to the Mutated Two-Headed Cat that Ate Shreveport!

Terry, those are absolutely beautiful!  The texture and shadowing on the dog picture is unbelievable!  I actually just bought some pencils and paper and have just started!  My mom was an artist and I have always had a desire to give it a try and I felt this was an inexpensive way to get started!

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Marie.  I think you'll really enjoy the pencils - I warn you, they are quite addictive.  If I can help you with it in any way, just let me know.  I'm anxious to see your work.

Oh thanks!  But I'm sure there are others out there doing beautiful work that we can enjoy seeing.

Not me! I can't even draw a stick cat!  My mom could draw, paint, crochet, embroidery, sew, play the piano, and speak about issues on local TV shows, something I wouldn't dare to think about doing. I used to play the piano well, but rarely play now.

Wow!  Beautiful pictures.  The dog looks so real, each hair neatly placed.  I've never been into arts and crafts, but my sister has a real talent for it.  I grew up playing the accordion, but haven't played in years.
