This is really kicking my butt. If anybody could shed some light, I would really appreciate it. For example, I am doing the Review exercises in section 2.1. On number 18 it states comprehensive history, detailed exam, and high complexity decision making, and I am totally confused how the answer is 99243, when that is a low complexity. Could anyone please explain this to me. I have studied and studied and I just cant get it. I don't see how it can be one thing other than what it states?

The E/M concepts are much different than the rest of the CPT book and require a different attention to detail. E/M is definitely a section that requires a bit of pondering. I've sent you an email walking you through your question you may find useful.

Personally, I've always felt that Evaluation & Management was a little bit like an ENDLESS LOOP!!!!! There, I've said it.
Nevertheless, I hereby issue A CHALLENGE TO ALL OUR CODING STUDENTS:
Graduates of most schools never learn it or just barely touch it at the Introductory level. We do though. It's worth learning if for no other reason than you will be one of the few who DO understand it.
