Job Titles for Medical Coders Don't Always Say 'Medical Coder'

If you've ever looked at job listings hoping to find one for 'Medical Coder', you may have missed those jobs because coders are called something else entirely.

Have any of you discovered that?

Here's an example for a job with VA:  Medical Records Technician (Coder).

A few years ago I would have thought that  a Medical Records Technician was someone who filed charts.  Definitions apparently change. You may want to read the full descriptions once it gets to the 'job search' part of your course.

I've also found it helpful to search by keyword versus title.  Using CCS, CPC, RHIA, RHIT as keywords tends to show results that I might otherwise have missed if I searched by department or title.
