Some of you came here because a relative pressured you into enrolling. Others enrolled in a 'weak' moment thinking it would be a quick and very easy path to a new career. Some of you had realistic goals, realizing it would be a tough course, but one worth your time and effort.
We all know that there are times when you feel that you aren't learning anything.
When did you realize that you WERE learning something?
For me the exams really reinforce that I'm learning something. Sometimes when I am doing the assigned reading I feel totally confused and feel like I'll never be able to remember all of the guidelines, but then when I am able to do the exam for that section and apply what I've read I find that I really did learn something whether I realized it or not. I am more of a hands-on learner. Reading something is great, but until I actually have to use that information I feel like it goes in one ear and out the other. I love actually coding and seeing that it's clicking for me (so far)!

For me doing the review on our mistake on the exam is the best way of learning. I know we all the students feel overwhelmed with a lot of guidelines and books to read. I feel that too. The way we learn things different from each other. I myself try to combine every method of learning, such as watching video (visual learner), do the assignment (learning by doing) and of course reading. I used to love read textbook, I still do but I am more incline to watch video that explaining things that I read on the book.
While I am doing my assignment, then I looked up video on Youtube that explaining the diseases and procedures to treat that diseases. I feel as a coder we should know what is the doctor talking about on the documentation, so I can picture it and grasp the situation. It is fun learning that way, and made me realiazed so little that I know about stuff. Just like people said, "the more you know things, the more you don't know."I feel coding is not just about finding the code, just like when we looked up information on the Encyclopedia. It is so much more than that.
The journey is not stop when we done with the course and hold a certification. There are so much more things to learn, because it keeps growing and changing.

It's nice to sort of be able to follow the coding discussions in the FB groups online. Also, I am starting to actually understand the AAPC's monthly mag I receive. It read like jibberish to me at first ;-)
I realized I was learning something when I started taking the exams. Reading the chapters is sometimes confusing and after reading, I feel like I should read it again because I cannot remember what in the world I just read. The first few chapters I was reading and I thought to myself, 'what did I get myself into?!'.
Then I started doing some of the exercises and actually getting the correct answers!
Then I started doing the exams.. my goal was to get at LEAST an 80 on my first exam... I got a 93! That is when I realized, I am learning how to code!
I knew I was learning from the get go, but retaining was another question entirely. In Module II, it tickles me pink when I know what anatomical part of the body to look under when I have only a medical term to work with. That is proof in the pudding that some things are sticking.
